EPS consists of stainless steel plate, PTFE friction plate which dissipates substantial amount of energy, and MER spring(Mass Energy Regulator) which provides resilience.




- Guide Box : Transmitting vertical load to substructure and damping seismic energy by friction between PTFE and stainless steel plate equipped in inner part. Moreover, it restricts movement of MER springs and compress MER springs.

    

- Bearing Block : Bearing block is the main body of EPS installing PTFE in the upper part, polyurethane disc in the lower part, MER springs in the side part, which transmits vertical and horizontal loads.

 

- Polyurethane Disc : Transmitting vertical load to substructure effectively and accepting rotational distortion. As it accepts 35Mpa compressive stress which is 2.3 times bigger than 15Mpa(allowable compressive stress), it can downsize substructures innovatively.

    

- Shear Pin : Shear pin is made by high-strengh materials in middle plate, transmitting horizontal load to the lower plate.

    

- Mass Energy Regulator spring : Compression stiffness of the MER springs in side part is secured the structural stability during earthquakes and it minimize the residual displacement of structures by providing restoring force after earthquakes.

Mass Energy Regulator resists horizontal force in all directions during earthquakes with the stiffness generated by proper compression strain

 

¢º Main function

Specially designed disc bearing accepts vertical loads, expansion movements and rotational distortions. During earthquakes, seismic force is damped and reduced by base-isolated system(frictional force generated by sliding between PTFE and stainless steel plate, and MER springs stiffness generated by proper compression strain).

 

¢º Applicability

Applicable for all types of bridges, especially suitable for short and medium span bridge.

 

¢º Maintenance

- Maintenance anchor system make maintenance and replacement easy.

- Durable MER system return back the upper structure to the origin position after earthquakes, thus mass amount of loss costs can be saved.
